Rhino Brothers Racing

Interior & Safety Equipment

The interior of my car is some hybrid between full race car and street car.  It has come to include many of the features and parts found in all-out race cars, while still preserving some trace of street worthiness.

The seats in the car are Corbeau Forza seats.  These have proven themselves to be an excellent race seat for someone like me who has a budget.  No, they are probably not the greatest thing in the world, but for the price, I would definitely do it again.  The seats support five or six point harnesses, have a (so-far) durable cloth covering, and provide MUCH more support than the stock seats.  The through-the-floor subframe connectors I used (see the chassis section) also did a wonderful job of holding the seats in place.

Together with the harnesses, the seats have allowed me to drive without a death grip on the wheel.  No more sore hands after a long track session.... I can relax my grip on the wheel now.  It helps to have a constant reference point for your body with your feet also.  You never have to brace yourself in a corner.  My driving became more relaxing and more accurate, and less of a scary ride.

The dashboard area is surprisingly stock, mainly due to lack of funds.  I have a suede MOMO steering wheel in my future, since my leather gloves can grip suede much better than they grip plastic.  I also have a gauge panel for the center console planned.

Currently, you'll notice the tach and shift light on the dashboard.  Soon a low oil-pressure light will join them, inspired by the loss of my last motor due to a total oil pressure loss.  (I broke the oil pump shaft).  You'll also notice the HotLaps lap timer where the radio used to be.  This unit works in conjunction with a IR receiver mounted on the cage and an IR transmitter placed trackside.  Exact lap timing and counting is a very handy thing to have!!

More to Come!!
