Rhino Brothers Racing

The Beginning

My very first car was a 1984 Mustang w/ a 3.8L V6.  The car was gun-metal grey, and in beautiful shape when I purchased it from my brother in 1993 for the whopping sum of $2500.

* Hopefully a picture of it will be here soon....

Unfortunately, when it was parked innocently enough on the side of Mass. Ave in Boston, where I was a student, an errant taxi driver decided to re-arrange it with his 4000lb. Caprice.  The car was a total loss.  :(  But the news was not all bad.  I now had a little insurance money, and a good excuse to upgrade to a V8 which I had wanted badly all along.

This is where Mustang Madness starts..... buying a basically stock 5.0L Mustang.
My specimen was a 1988 Mustang GT with about 80k miles on the clock.  The car came with a C-4 trans by Performance Automatic and a 3000 rpm converter, along with some minor mods like a 2.25" Dynomax exhaust system and an off-road pipe.  The car sure felt fast to me!!!  The car also had a fresh coat of paint, headlight and taillight black-outs, and a sunroof!

As long as I was in Connecticut, I felt like I was king of the hill.  Sure some of my friends had Mustangs, but none of them as fast as mine... :)  And at the time, I was competing in IASCA, or the International Auto Sound Competition Association, so the car definitely had the best stereo on the block.  And let's face it, in high school, that mattered a lot!!

Just look at that awe-inspiring engine bay.  The yellow spark plugs wires were worth 50hp alone!  (At least that's what my friends thought.)  At the time it was my pride and joy, but now, it just looks like another stock Mustang.  Note the large red wire running up the left side of the engine bay.  That's 2 gauge power wire for the amplifiers.  (All four of them!)
